A small crew of very competent people, make a terrific team of knowledgeable, responsible
Boat people. Always prepared to assist any guests. The small fast Tenders, with safety first for everyone, with non restrictive life vests, gives a freedom to leave Eco Abrolhos main boat. These excursions are Eco Abrolhos’s
Drawcard. Shallow draughts make for access to inaccessible waterways. River systems, the waterfalls, cliffs, plants & animals, birds, crocodiles, Ancient Indigenous Art sites both Gwion Gwion & Wandjina. A historical WW 11 aircraft remains. Safe swimming holes, after a bit of a clamber! Fishing, Crabbing,all opportunities.
Montgomery Reef & Talbot Bay unique in their beauty. Keeping guests well catered for,Chef Johnnie created wonderful varied meals, several with the ultra fresh fish just caught.

  Exceeded all expectations - Just before Easter, my husband and I did a four-night, five-day trip to the Abrolhos Islands (offshore from Geraldton in Western Australia). The remote islands are beautiful, in their own... read more way, but they are also historically important, being the site of the "Batavia" shipwreck in 1629. Our experience with Eco Abrolhos as a company was simply outstanding. It's not cheap but was worth every single cent. The crew worked extremely hard for very long hours, ensuring that we passengers (29 of us in all) were happy, entertained, informed and extremely well fed. There was fresh lobster on the menu every day. The weather was good so we were able to snorkel on the site of the famous shipwreck and explore the desolate islands where the survivors came ashore. The professional Eco Abrolhos staff ensured that we had the best possible experience of this little-visited part of the world. Thanks very much to the team - you exceeded all our expectations.

Activities for everyone —snorkelling, glass boat views of the corals and fish plus visit the wreck of the Batavia. Fishing!! Crayfish pots !!
The boat needs a good refit, It’s showing its age. The boat they use for fishing takes 8 people, and in my opinion it’s too many - always getting fishing lines tangled . Just too many people in a small space and if the boat is rocking, there really isn’t a place to hang onto . I think there should only be 6 (preferably 4) for safety reasons.

In fact a friend who... read more often boats in that area is planning to take the trip so it will enrich the times when he will go back on his own boat. Love the crayfish meals - and although the staff may be bored with eating so much - believe me, I did not and happy to have the choice of eating twice a day!

I read Tripadvisor before going on the trip and the one thing I wish I was told was to bring my half wet suit. Since I regularly snorkel for about half an hour in Perth in March, I thought I would have no problem snorkelling up north in March. However, I started to get cold after 45 mins (normal snorkel trip was about 1hr). One suggestion I would make to the crew was to organise the snorkelling so it was not so crowded (perhaps go in 2 groups or mark the areas so we can snorkel at our own rate?), and the rule of not allowing a glass of wine at lunch if you were snorkelling in the afternoon was a bit over the top.

Also, in Tripadvisor, there were concerns about seasickness which is why we chose the fly in first, boat back trip. However, with our whole group, there was not one person who was remotely seasick on the way back even though there was quite a bit of swell.

Also a suggestion before you take the trip: Read Batavia.

  Kimberley Magic - Wow what a trip! The beauty of the Kimberley landscape, the cultural experience, the amazing rock art, I don’t know where to start. The boat is not fancy, really comfortable,... read more more than enough but not a luxury cruise. If you are more worried about a fancy cabin than the experience of the Kimberley then this isn’t your cruise. But if you want amazing knowledgeable crew (most especially Grant Streeter, the skipper) and an ability to get into areas that the big fancy ships can’t then Eco is for you. We blasted off several times a day in our tinnies to discover waterfalls, cliffs, rock art, crocodiles, fishing etc etc etc. The Montgomery reef and Horizontal Falls are probably what drew me to the cruise in the first place but although they were every bit as amazing as I’d hoped, they were only a small part of the wonder of the Kimberley. We’re now booking to go on the Eco to the Abrolhos. Can’t wait. Thanks Grant, Josh, Luke, Giulia, Liam, Scarlet, Ethan, Tom, Haydo, and not forgetting the one who kept us fed with his amazing cooking (those scones!) Conor. Thanks to you all for a magical trip.

It was a fantastic adventure for our young teenagers and the staff were very inclusive of people of all ages.
